GORE-TEX requested us an experience for consumers located in different stores around the world, starting with Camper stores. The goals of this installation were to communicate the benefits of their weatherproof footwear with a ludic and interactive experience.
The installation consist in a physical case with a 42’’ screen inside of it, the physical GORE-TEX shoe above it, and 4 markers -physical cubes representing each meteorology effect- allowing the user to interact with the digital world.
In the installation the user can control the meteorology (snow, wind, rain and sun) of the virtual world using the markers.
In the digital world there’s a urban square where multiples characters make their own life until the users intervene in the digital world applying different weather inclemencies. That makes the characters try to protect them under the physical GORE-TEX shoe, represented as a huge shadow in their digital world.
My main tasks on this project have been to develop the Unity application, integrate all the team’s work and, the most important thing, to develop the artificial intelligence behind the characters and their reactions using a behavioural state-machine and path-finding techniques. I’ve also collaborated in the main ideas and prototypes of the marker’s detection using OpenFrameworks.
